Who We Are
Kitty Appeal & Film Reels is a founder-led initiative nonprofit corporation and is currently in the process of seeking recognition as a 501(c)(3) private foundation. Our mission is to support cats in crisis, encourage humane and positive portrayals of cats in film, and provide educational support through student grants.
About
We are building a small, mission-driven foundation dedicated to making a meaningful impact through focused grantmaking, direct support, and careful stewardship. Our work centers on three connected purposes: helping cats in urgent need, encouraging humane and positive portrayals of cats in film, and supporting promising Norwich University students pursuing creative and communication-based disciplines.
What We Do
Support for cats in crisis
We plan to provide in-kind and financial support to reputable cat sanctuaries, rescues, and veterinary service providers. This may include direct help with urgent, life-saving veterinary care, as well as food, litter, and other essential supplies for smaller under-resourced organizations.
Grants for cat-centered filmmakers
We also expect to offer finishing grants to independent filmmakers whose work places cats at the center or in a supporting role of the storytelling and treats them with genuine care. Priority will go to projects that follow best practices in animal safety, care, and handling, and that portray cats as more than props.
Student grants
Kitty Appeal & Film Reels also intends to provide an annual named grant to a student(s) connected to Norwich University. Eligible recipients must attend Norwich University and graduate in English, Filmmaking, Multimedia, or a closely related fields. The award is intended to support students with strong creative and academic outcome, and promising careers in that field of study, whether or not their work is directly related to cats.
How To Support
While Our Nonprofit Foundation is currently in a development phase and is not yet awarding grants and in-kind donations, we are pleased to offer mission-related merchandise.
